NEW CURFEW FOR CHRISTMAS AT THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY

The Generalitat Valenciana has announced the new measures that will be applied at Christmas in the Valencian Community this December 17, 2020, which affect the curfew, the number of people who can meet and the perimeter closure.

The new curfew is generally established until 11 p.m. until January 15 (before it was until 00.00) and two exceptions are established: on December 24 and 31, the curfew in the Region is set at 00 hours (before it was 1.30 hours).

The number of people gathering together, be it with family or friends, is also reduced again: initially it was 10 for special days and from this Monday, December 21, it will be just 6, including Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and New Years, as well as the day of Kings (Reyes Magos).

Finally, Puig has communicated that “the perimeter closure of the Community is reinforced until next January 15”: it will not be possible to leave or enter the Valencian territory until January 15, except for people who return to their place of residence. Puig has stressed that it will not be possible to access or leave the Community to go to the place of residence “of relatives or close people.”

The Interterritorial Health Council yesterday agreed that the Government and autonomies will see the evolution of the incidence of the virus “day by day”, to decide whether to toughen the measures in four points: trips, meetings, curfews and events. Thus, the communities will have autonomy to:

– Prohibit the exits and entrances of their territories (perimeter confinement) during all the holidays, including between December 23 and January 6, which was the window in which, until now, movements between regions were authorized.

– Regional governments may restrict meetings to less than ten people on key holiday dates (Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve or New Year).

– The autonomies will have the power to establish a curfew on those days indicated before 1.30 am as had been agreed two weeks ago.

– And, finally, they will be able to set even more limitations on the concentrations in public spaces such as parades, which were already planned to be static.

So, maybe 2020 is the year when we finally spend the holidays with our true close friends?

In my case, my dogs! How about you?
